In its 20 years of operation, Vodafone Fiji Limited has to date generated in excess of $600 million toward economic investment.
This is the assessment of former Telecom Engineer turned Vodafone Fiji Chief Executive Officer Aslam Khan.
Khan said the growth of Vodafone Fiji in becoming a premier mobile company started with 35 staff and a post pay plan of only $44 a month and 60 cents a minute of bulky hand-sets.
Khan said Fiji has 1 million mobile phones to a population of about 800,000 people which indicates the rapid growth of the mobile phone sector.
Marking their 20th anniversary today, Aslam Khan said Vodafone will continue to upgrade its infrastructure, recently changing their entire network supplier from Ericsson to ZTE for the 4G network.
Another area where around $5 million is being invested is the upgrading of the rural network service.
Vodafone celebrated its 20th anniversary of its commercial operation in Fiji today.
