The vulnerable and needy communities in the Northern Division will benefit from the grants given out by the Vodafone ATH Foundation.
Vodafone Fiji ATH Foundation handed over three grants to the Northern Charity Alliance, Koroinasolo Village School and Udu Point Women's Initiative for its 28th birthday celebration.
Foundation’s Executive Ambalika Devi says they have been focusing on entrepreneurial activities and income generation projects for the needy, as well as involving more women and youth groups. The Northern Charity Alliance President Jagat Prasad says they are grateful for the generous grant of $20,000 and through this support they have been able to accomplish their main aim of reaching out and assisting the vulnerable communities throughout the Northern Division.
He adds the Foundation has helped support many educational, youth and women focused projects over the years.
The Head Teacher of Koroinasolo Village School Tomasi Uluiviti received the grant of $2,500 for the mEducation project for his school. It is a project where the grant will be used to purchase tablets to connect students in rural areas to the internet.
President of Udu Point Women's Initiative Etta Milly Rasovo says the $5,000 grant will provide a significant benefit to the communities by improving their livelihoods.
The groups across Fiji can apply for grants based on the Foundation’s Thematic Areas which are income generation, youth and women focused.
