Villages in Ovalau have raised concerns about the poor condition of their roads, an issue they have experienced for an extended period of time.
A resident of Waitovu, Avisai Bulivorovoro says they always close their louvres and doors because of the excessive dust blown from the road into their home.
Bulivorovoro says both the previous and current governments are aware of this issue, yet nothing has been done.
He says children are often sent to water the road in front of the village to prevent dust from entering their homes.
Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, says he has visited Ovalau and Koro Island and has witnessed the poor condition of the roads, which require immediate action.
Ro Filipe further says the upgrading of these roads must be completed this year.
