The Deputy CEO of the iTaukei Affairs Board, Josefa Toganivalu has urged village headmen and district representatives in the province of Rewa not to participate in any political campaigns and to be neutral at all times.
Speaking at the Rewa Provincial Council meeting in Burebasaga in Rewa today, Toganivalu says that they will have to focus on their own responsibility which is to serve everyone equally.
Ministry of Itaukei Affairs Permanent Secretary, Naipote Katonitabua has also asked the province of Rewa to help in the preparations for the elections and for people to get more information about elections.
Meanwhile, Na Marama Bale Na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa raised concerns on the contributions that are to be given by different villages annually or the provincial levy because of their short fall last year.
Ro Teimumu says that the soli provides assistance to the provincial council to fulfill some development plans.
Each village was allocated to give $1,500 annually for their levy where there was a shortfall of $69,000 last year.
She says the government funding which is called subvention, was $17,000.
Ro Teimumu says because of the shortfall from the provincial levy, their investment shares through FHL, ATH and Rewa Provincial Council Company limited was used to pay for the shortfall.
Ro Teimumu also called on the people of Rewa residing in urban areas to help contribute to their levy as there is a lot of unemployment in the province.
