The Village Boys U20 7s side has set its sight on winning both the 38th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament next week and the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament later this month.
Player Beniamino Ratu says preparations for the next two tournaments have been ongoing since last year, and they aim to win both titles.
He says the team is made up of young boys who could not finish their education due to family, social and financial issues.
Ratu says they created this team to provide an opportunity for youths who have the talent in rugby but could not find a club to showcase their talents with.
He adds even though they still don’t have a sponsor for the team, the boys have shown resilience by winning some U20 competition in the 2025 Fiji Bitter Series tournaments.
Ratu is calling out to supporters to come in large numbers to support the boys as they showcase their hidden talents.
52 men's teams will battle for supremacy in the Fiji Bitter Main Cup competition, 24 teams in the U21 competition, 9 teams will compete in the Women’s Division and 6 boys’ teams and 4 girls’ teams will battle in the Pacific Energy Superstars U18 competition.
The Nawaka 7s will be held next Friday and Saturday, while the Bitter Marist 7s is from the 20th to the 22nd of this month.
