I’m excited to play in Fiji and will try my best to win the Fiji International Golf Tournament.
Those are the words of champion Fiji born international golfer and former world number one Vijay Singh as he gets ready to tee off tomorrow at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
Singh who also said that he may be interested in playing for Fiji if it is sending a golf team to the 2016 Olympics, is happy to see the completion of the golf course that he designed and has already spoken to the course owners to make some amendments.
Singh said he needs to turn to the golf mode from tomorrow.
He said organizers should have given at least five spots to local golfers without qualifying for the tournament.
Singh hopes this is done in the next four tournaments.
He has also revealed that he may have a Golf Academy in Fiji in the future.
Singh hopes the Fiji International Golf tournament will result in more children taking interest in playing golf.
120 professional golfers will play in the championship.
The Fiji Golf International will be broadcast to 40 countries with a potential reach to 400 million homes around the world.
The winning golfer will walk away with 1 million US dollars.
Round one will start at 6.30am tomorrow and will continue until Sunday.
