Residents of Velovelo Temple Road, Lautoka, are celebrating a reliable 24/7 water supply after more than a decade of intermittent service and water carting struggles.
The Water Authority of Fiji completed a $56,000 rezoning project, installing a new DN50 PE pipe to connect the Saru Reservoir to the Velovelo area.
This upgrade has resolved hydraulic constraints caused by increased demand and ongoing developments.
Ashwini Kumar, a long-time resident, expressed gratitude, sharing how families previously rationed water and endured late-night waits.
She says they have faced this challenge for over 28 years, however, today they can celebrate Christmas without worrying about water.
WAF says their efforts highlight its commitment to providing all Fijians with safe and reliable drinking water.
