Despite the Education Ministry’s instruction to Veiuto Primary School to stop asking parents for advanced payments of school fees in order to secure a place for their children for next year, the school has ignored this.

Veiuto Primary still sent a letter on Wednesday afternoon to parents and guardians for their 2014 re-enrolment requesting parents for advanced payments.

The letter states that the school board has unanimously agreed at its board meeting of 12th November this year that the school will continue with the re-enrolment process which includes payment of re-enrolment fees and fees for 2014.

The letter further states that the re-enrolment form has been given to parents and guardians to complete and return to the school with $150 or 50% of the 2014 school fees by today.

It also goes on to say that they will register any parents and guardians on the Data Bureau if any levies remain unpaid on the start of the following term as repayment plan has been defaulted.

Permanent Secretary for Education Dr Brij Lal said the school management is clearly not respecting the government by issuing this letter.
