The Vatuwaqa bridge will be demolished after more than 20 years of spanning an important crossing over the Vatuwaqa river.
This confirmation comes from Mike Rudge, manager change Fiji Roads Authority.
According to Rudge, the Vatuwaqa bridge has to be demolished as it is in an irreparable state.
No date has been given for the demolishment of the bridge.
Elsewhere, at Stinson bridge next to the Suva fish market, the upgrading option to slightly move the bridge further outwards to the sea is being considered.
Rudge said changing the location of the bridge will also allow for a temporary bridge to reopen where the current one stands.
