There is confirmation today that the Vaturu Dam in Nadi overflowed due to the heavy downpour over the weekend.
Water Authority of Fiji spokesperson Maika Nagalu said the dam reached its maximum level and water came through the spillway built in the dam.
Questions have been raised on why a warning was not issued that the dam would overflow.
Acting CEO of the Water Authority, Opetaia Ravai is expected to have a press conference this afternoon.
We also questioned Permanent Secretary for National Disaster Management, Colonel Inia Seruiratu about this issue.
