A tough Argentina outfit defeated the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team 29-10 to win the Vancouver 7s.
Argentina scored five tries in the match with Fiji getting two.
Fiji’s tries were scored by Jerry Tuwai and Kaminieli Rasaku.
Argentina had a good game plan and did not lose focus throughout the match. They also had a player sin binned for a deliberate knock-on.
Marcos Moneta scored 2 tries in the final to finish the tournament as the top try scorer with 10 tries in total.
Moneta was also named Player of the Final.
Fiji found it hard to get the ball back from the restarts and gave away 6 penalties in the game.
Fiji has picked up 19 points for being the runner-up and jumps to 6th place on the World Sevens Series Standings while Argentina moves up to second place.
Argentina last won a tournament in 2009 when the team’s current coach Santiago Gomez Cora was a player.
An emotional Cora says it is a dream come true.
