Following instructions and respecting everyone in the community is a driving factor to the success of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua centre, Iosefo Masi.
This was highlighted by Masi’s father, Atonio Kawakawa who says Masi has always had this humbleness in him despite making a name for himself on the world rugby stage.
Kawakawa says that ever since Masi began his rugby career, they have always supported him even throughout his struggles.
He says his son has contributed so much to rugby in Fiji, being part of the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s squad winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics and also winning the 2022 7s Rugby World Cup.
Masi was also part of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians squad that reached the quarter finals of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The 25-year-old is currently the leading try scorer for the Fijian Drua in the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season with 6 tries so far.
Masi scored two tries against the Chiefs in round 4, three tries against the Waratahs last week and one try yesterday.
Kawakawa has sent his best wishes to Masi for the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Drua will play the Rebels at 8:35pm next Friday at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne.
