The survival rate for childhood cancer has improved from 20 percent to 50 percent however 20 children die in a year despite intensive treatment.
The Vice Chairperson of WOWS Kids Fiji, Vilash Chand highlighted this during the morning tea fundraising organised by Value City.
Chand says the vision is to build a resource centre that will provide treatment to the children of Fiji and the region.
He says they now look forward to the assistance from the government for a piece of land where they can build the resource centre that will help in improving the survival rate for childhood cancer.
The Managing Director of Value City, Vera Chute says they will be fundraising for the whole of this month.
Chute says at the end of the month, they will match the donation, which will then be given to WOWS Kids Fiji.
She says ANZ has donated $5,000 while Essity generously donated $5,000 worth of products to the organisation.
