Valetini and Daugunu to start for Wallabies against the Springboks

Two players with links to Fiji, Rob Valetini and Filipo Daugunu

Two players with links to Fiji, Rob Valetini and Filipo Daugunu have been named to start for the Wallabies when they take on Rugby World Cup champions South Africa in the Rugby Championship opener this weekend.

Valetini has been named to start as blindside flanker while Daugunu will start on the left wing.

Coach Joe Schmidt has also named two debutantes in his match day 23 squad with Carlo Tizzano starting at openside flanker and Luke Reimer to potentially make his debut off the bench.

Isaac Kailea, Matt Faessler and captain Allan Alaalatoa will start in the front row, Nick Frost will pair up with Lukhan Salakaia-Loto at locks Valetini to partner up with Tizzano at flanker and Harry Wilson to start at number 8.

Jake Gordon will start at halfback, Noah Lolesio will start at flyhalf and Daugunu will be on the wings with Andrew Kellaway.

Hunter Paisami and Len Ikitau will partner up in the centres with Tom Wright at fullback.

In the reserves, Josh Nasser, James Slipper, Zane Nonggorr, Jeremy Williams and Luke Reimer will cover the forwards while Tate McDermott, Tom Lynagh and Dylan Pietsch will cover the backs.

The Wallabies will take on the Springboks at 4.35pm this Saturday at Suncorp Stadium.

Meanwhile, the All Blacks will take on Argentina at 7.05pm Saturday in Wellington.
