The newly commissioned $23,000 Vabea access protection project in the district of Ono in Kadavu will benefit the villages of Vabea as they continue to battle climate change and save their village from continuous seawater infiltration.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Sakiasi Ditoka commissioned the project this week during his tour of Northern Kadavu.
Ditoka says that the access protection project will serve as a barrier to prevent the unforgiving ways of mother nature as Vabea and most villages in Fiji battle the crisis of climate change.
He says the project is aimed at ensuring community safety and enhancing environmental conservation.
