Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate assured the people of Lomaiviti that they will look into the services of transportation around the Lomaiviti group.
A representative from Batiki raised the issue that the boat that transports the people of Batiki, Gau and Nairai was not fit to service their island.
During the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting, Usamate said these shipping services were given one year to service the islands until they will advertise the tender for the shipping service.
He says the company that owns the franchise tender will end this September while the next tender will be given 15 years, so the new tender can find a ship that does a better job then this old ship.
