Uprising Beach Resort has announced that it will invest in the development of an International Sized Rugby Training Field, a High Performance Sports Gym, a Multi‑Purpose Court, a 25 metres lap pool, sprint track as well meeting and physio rooms.
This has been announced at the Fijian Tourism Expo 2015 which is currently underway in Denarau.
Locally owned and managed by a team born and raised in Pacific Harbour, Uprising says it has a strong desire to continue to provide opportunities to ensure that local employment in the Pacific Harbour area is supported.
Uprising Beach Resort Owner, Rene Munch says Uprising has identified a need for better facilities outside of the major urban areas in order to provide more options for touring international teams as well as local teams wanting a "one stop shop" for all their teams sporting needs.
Uprising will be able to provide the perfect solution for touring teams coming to Fiji to compete in sports events whilst still having that special Fiji Island experience.
This will also provide our National Sporting bodies such as rugby, netball, basketball, swimming, soccer an affordable camp option to aid in their preparations for upcoming tours and major competitions.
Munch says they also hope to build on the relationship with local sporting bodies in order to provide international teams that tour Fiji an experience where they can train with purpose in a single environment as well as experience Fiji as the holiday destination that it is known for.
Uprising is targeting an opening date of 2016 for the new additions as well as 12 new bungalows, specifically designed for such groups.
The total cost of the project has not been revealed.
