Roads in Naqeledamu village in Tailevu that were only accessible to four-wheel drives and vans will soon be done away with as upgrading works have now begun.
The villagers previously had no access to transport and had to walk 200 meters daily to find some mode of transport to take them to work and school.
Village Headman Mataika Tuicakau highlighted these adding that this will no longer be the case as upgrade works are underway.
Fiji Roads Authority contractor’s Fulton Hogan Hiways is currently upgrading 500 metres of the Village road.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Rewa Depot Supervisor Ulaiasi Bolalailai says the upgrade includes grading and re-sheeting of the road, as well as clearing of high shoulders.
Bolalailai adds that once the work is completed, the struggles of getting to and from Naqeledamu village will be a thing of the past.
