The Lautoka City Council says upgrading works at Churchill Park are expected to be completed by end of this year.
Chief Executive Officer Jone Nakauvadra says they have funded the $5 million project which will have an eight lane synthetic athletics track and refurbished facilities.
Nakauvadra is hoping that organisers of the Coca-Cola Games will consider the venue to stage the 2016 Games.
