The University of Fiji has postponed their graduation ceremony that was planned for next Friday due to the current measles outbreak.

The University stated that the decision was made after receiving advice from the Permanent Secretary of Education, Allison Burchell who was advised by the Ministry of Health with regards to the outbreak.

They say the University was asked to consider cancelling their graduation taking into account the seriousness of the matter linked to the spread of the infection.

They say the December graduation will be rescheduled and will be held together with the March 2020 graduation.

UniFiji Vice Chancellor, Sushila Chang says the seriousness of this matter warrants caution and careful consideration.

Chang says graduating students will be provided with completion letters.
