While the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua had announced that they will be hosting 7 home games for next season’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific Competition, CEO Mark Evans says it would have been great to have more games in Suva.
Evans says they would’ve liked to have more than two matches in the Central Division, but the unavailability of the venue prevented them from doing so.
The CEO says despite that bad news, active discussions are underway with bus companies to create travel and match ticket packages with the Fijian Drua.
He says this initiative can make it easier for fans and they can make it a day trip for both the Suva and Lautoka home games.
Lautoka’s Churchill Park will host 5 matches while the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva will host 2 matches.
The Drua will play three matches in Lautoka in March, against defending champions the Crusaders on the 9th, the NSW Waratahs on the 23rd and the Western Force on the 30th.
They will then take on the Hurricanes in Suva on the 19th of April and return to Lautoka the following week to take on Moana Pasifika in the battle of the Pacific on the 27th.
The Drua will host the Queensland Reds in Suva on May 18th before returning to Lautoka for the final regular season match against the Melbourne Rebels on the 1st of June.
The Fijian Drua will open their 2024 Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Blues in Auckland on February 24th, 2024.
