USAID has partnered with the Pacific Disability Forum to break digital barriers and create an inclusive digital environment for people with disabilities in the Pacific.

The partnership was signed by USAID Pacific Islands Mission Director, Zema Semunegus and CEO of the Pacific Disability Forum, Saninimili Tawake at University of the South Pacific today.

USAID Pacific Islands Mission Director, Zema Semunegus says the partnership will promote digital training, strengthen policies, and enhance service delivery for people with disabilities.

Semunegus says USAID has been a leader in digital transformation for nearly 50 years with a strong commitment to innovative and inclusive strategies.

She says the new USAID digital policy launched by Samantha Power in July this year further supports this mission.

She further says this partnership will be instrumental in advising governments, agencies and institutions in promoting accessibility and inclusivity.

Meanwhile Tawake says this partnership is essential to narrowing the gap, enabling them to work independently and access critical services.

Tawake is calling for stronger Cyber security measures to protect people with disabilities and safeguard their rights and well-being online.
