Four Fijian families have lost their homes to the wildfires sweeping across Northern California.

Fijian Resident of Oakland, California Vilisi Nadaku says that several Fijian families are gathered at the First United Methodist Church in Montgomery that has been deemed as one of the many evacuation centres.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that they are awaiting confirmation from the Fijian Embassy in Washington on the specific number of Fijian Families that are directly affected by the wildfire.

At least 15 people have died since Monday, when most of the fires began.

Officials have confirmed that nine deaths were in Sonoma County and two of those died in Napa County.

For the third day straight now more than a dozen wildfires have raged across Northern California.
