US General Joseph Lengyel who serves as a military adviser to the US President, Secretary of Defence and National Security Council says there are great opportunities ahead for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to further develop and enhance its services.
General Lengyel who was on a short visit to Fiji met with the RFMF Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto and discussed the opportunities to further strengthen both countries armed forces' relationship.
He told Legend FM News at Nausori Airport that the Nevada National Guard and the RFMF will do many things together and this is not just to assist in training and development of military officers in Fiji but also to make the USA military, the Nevada National Guard a better military force.
General Lengyel says they have worked with the military all around the world and has seen great professional Fijian Peacekeeping Forces in many parts of the Middle East and Africa.
He says it is a great opportunity to come to Fiji and start this chapter of state partnership program and strong relationship.
General Lengyel who is responsible for ensuring that more than 453,000 US Army and Air National Guard personnel are accessible and ready to protect the US homeland and provide combat-ready resources to the Army and Air Force adds that he is impressed to hear that Fijian soldiers are currently helping Australia fight the bush fires.
He says the RFMF has to be commended.
General Lengyel and his US contingent left for Tonga this afternoon.
