The U.S Embassy in collaboration with Post Fiji Limited have unveiled a special run of commemorative postal stamps to mark the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps in Fiji.
The set includes four stamps depicting current volunteers as well as those that have served in various communities throughout Fiji in the past.
Michael Goldman who is the Charge d’ Affairs of the U.S embassy says in 1961 the then President, John F. Kennedy signed the Executive order that created the Peace Corps.
He says that over the past 50 years more than 2,500 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in Fiji.
