Hamilton 7s: Fiji to face Argentina in cup quarter after beating Samoa 22-12

The Fiji Airways men’s national 7s team will take on Argentina in the second quarter final of the Hamilton 7s after beating Samoa 22-12 in their final pool match.

Captain Waisea Nacuqu scored two unconverted tries in the first spell to take an early 10-0 lead.

Samoa’s Tuna Tuitama grabbed a converted try in the 6th minute for Samoa to close the gap 10-7.

Fiji led 10-7 at the break.

Samoa started the second half with a try to Motu Opetai to take a 12-10 lead with an unsuccessful conversion.

Vuiviawa Naduvalo scored an unconverted try in the 10th minute to regain the lead for Fiji before Manueli Maisamoa scored the final try followed by a successful conversion to give Fiji the win.

The Men’s cup quarter-finals will start at 9.58am tomorrow, the semi finals will begin at 1.48pm, and the final will be played at 6.56pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team will take on PNG at 5.37pm in their final pool match.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick-off at 8.30am tomorrow, the cup semi final will begin at 12.20pm and the cup final will be at 6.26pm tomorrow.
