Papua New Guinea defeated Fiji 2-1 to win the OFC Women’s Nations Cup at the HFC Bank Stadium.
Meagen Gunemba scored PNG's first goal in the 17th minute while Ramona Padio scored in the 28th minute.
Digicel Kulas only goal came from a nifty free kick by Trina Davis which was put behind the goalmouth by Cema Nasau.
PNG led 2-1 at half time.
Trina Davis was shown a yellow card in the 87th minute.
Cema Nasau was named player of the 2022 OFC Women’s Nations Cup.
Meanwhile, Solomon Island defeated Samoa 6-5 on penalties in the third place playoff earlier today.
PNG has qualified for the inter-confederation playoff for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The playoff will be played in New Zealand next February.
The inter-confederation playoffs will determine the final three qualification spots for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
The playoffs will feature 10 teams from Asia, Africa, North America, Central America, Caribbean, South America, Europe and Oceania who will split into three groups, with the winner of each group qualifying for the Women's World Cup.
