In marking their 70th anniversary, UNICEF have launched a photo exhibition this week at the Fiji Museum in Suva where they will be hosting more than 2,000 school students.
The photo exhibition included charts of the UN agency’s evolution since it was established in 1946, to assist children in Europe in the wake of World War II, to a global emergency and development agency active in more than 190 countries worldwide.
The exhibit also illustrates how the realization of the rights of children is central to the Sustainable Development Goals.
UNICEF Pacific’s Representative Sheldon Yett says UNICEF’s 70th anniversary is a reminder of the reasons their organisation was founded, and the relevance of their continuing global mandate.
Yett says they have also seen many milestones achieved right here in the Pacific thanks to strong partnerships that put children first and one important example of this is that the Pacific region has been polio free since 2000 this is an enormous achievement.
The exhibition will go on till the 10th of December at the Fiji Museum.
