The United Nations Development Programme is embarking on a new action plan in order to create climate change awareness through various communities.
The Pacific Risk Resilience Programme, which will be introduced later this year, will enable the government and the UNDP to map out strategies on how to minimize the effect of climate change.
Programme coordinator Moortaza Jiwanji said there is a real need for this programme to be set out as it will also inform local communities on sustainable actions.
Jiwanji added the initiative to undertake this programme has already been adopted by various countries in the Pacific such as Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Tonga.
