Kiwi UFC star Israel Adesanya was filmed as he was challenged to fight on a central Auckland street on Wednesday
Adesanya, who was seen on K’ Rd beside his McLaren car, can be heard telling an unidentified man to “walk away” during the confrontation.
The MMA fighter says he was leaving a cafe on when a passing car slowed, and a person in it began yelling racial abuse and challenging him to fight.
Adesanya says they have been in contact with police and will be pressing charges.
The two-time UFC champion says it’s ridiculous that he can’t buy a pie after training without some idiot screaming despicable things and asking for a fight while his mates film from the sidelines.
He had a message for members of the public too saying it was a very dangerous situation and incidents like it must not be glorified online.
Adesanya said he hoped that in the future people would say something rather than get their phones out to film.
The former UFC middleweight champion was unable to reclaim the middleweight title in August when he lost to current champ Dricus du Plessis.
