Two houses destroyed in fire in Samabula and Votualevu

Two houses have been destroyed in fire incidents in the last 24 hours.

The first incident occurred last night at Rice Mill Road, Votualevu, Nadi where a home belonging to a 51-year-old man was destroyed in a fire.

Police say the man and his family were away when the incident occurred.

They say the estimated cost of damage is $30,000 and the cause of fire is yet to be determined.

The second fire incident occurred at Crompton Place in Samabula at around 2am this morning.

The occupants of the house were sleeping when they were awoken by cracking noise and saw smoke and fire had engulfed the hallway.

All made it out safely however the house was destroyed.
