Two people have been rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital for treatment after a Paradise bus travelling from Suva to Lautoka veered off the road at Malevu Village in Sigatoka this morning.

Police say the accident occurred at around 8am today and says the bus was carrying 15 passengers.

They say the driver lost control and the bus veered off the road, hitting a lamp post before landing into the drain.

Police add one of the two injured persons was a passenger of the bus while the other person was a villager who was injured after part of the lamp post flew off to the villager’s house crashing through the rooftop into the house causing injuries to the victim.

Director Traffic, SSP Mitieli Divuana says the rest of the passengers were not injured but were assisted to board another bus and make their way to their destination. SSP Divuana says the investigation into the incident continues.
