You are here for a reason, to be rehabilitated, to be better and we want you to walk out of here with a purpose.

This was the message from the Attorney General and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga while speaking to inmates at the Labasa Corrections facilities, during his Northern Tour.

Turaga says that rehabilitation centers was not the end of the journey, but place set up to help in their transformation and training.

He urged the inmates not be hard on themselves, but take this as a learning curb.

He adds there have been many others that have gone through the same situation, and upon release have gone on to pursue their dreams of furthering their education, becoming entrepreneurs, and other areas where they have greatly contributed to society.

Turaga says there are programmes and opportunities that are offered in prison to assist in the imates’ reform, and they should take it positively.

He says the purpose of his visit with the Acting Commissioner of Corrections Salote Panapasa was because the Government cared for them, and the services rendered for their reform.

Turaga further says the Government cares about the inmates and the Fiji Correction Service is here to help in their rehabilitation.

He also stressed about the importance of understanding, and respecting the law.
