Fiji Men’s 7s team flyer Aminiasi Tuimaba has dedicated the Tokyo Olympics gold medal win to his late grandfather who passed away during the Los Angeles 7s last year.
Tuimaba who is from Yasawa lived for most of his life with his grandfather in Lautoka.
He says they always talked about the Olympics and it is unfortunate that his grandfather was not here to see him win the gold medal.
He says everything he has achieved so far is because of his family who have continuously supported him throughout his rugby career.
Tuimaba who currently plays with French Top 14 club Pau says despite switching to 15s last year, playing in the Tokyo Olympics was always on his mind.
The 26-year-old says he cannot wait to finish quarantine and meet his family again because he will have to return to France very soon.
The National 7s team will complete their 14 day quarantine at the end of the week.
