As the Police search continues for the 3-year-old girl missing from Kalekana Settlement in Lami from Saturday, Deputy Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has directed an internal investigation into the initial handling of the report.
Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says this is in relation to the claims made by the mother after the first report was lodged.
The mother of 3-year-old Talei Raikadroka says Talei was reported missing at the Lami Police Station on Sunday.
Losalini Lalaia says that she does not think Police are doing enough to find her missing daughter.
She says it took Police 3 days to actively search for her daughter. Lalaia wants Police to work harder to find the 3-year-old.
Meanwhile, she is also asking Police to inform her partner about their missing daughter.
When questioned by Fijivillage about why she could not tell her partner, Lalaia says her partner’s boss would not have believed her and just assumed that she had just wanted him to come home.
Lalaia says there could also be a possibility that her daughter may have been abducted by someone who knows her father-in-law in order to get money from him as he is a moneylender.
The Criminal Investigations Department is now investigating the disappearance of Raikadroka.
According to Police, Talei's grandfather woke up on Saturday morning and noticed her missing from their Kalekana home and assumed she had gone to her granduncle's home to have breakfast.
Upon returning from a church service, he noticed the girl still missing and presumed the child was still with family.
Please call the Southern Division Command Centre on 9905529 if you have any information that could help them locate the young girl.
