Melanesian descendants have been reminded of the importance of education and supporting their children’s education to improve community leadership.
Speaking at the opening of the Melanesian Council AGM, Assistant Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Sakiasi Tubuna, emphasized the need to support children’s education as a path to success.
Tubuna also reminded them that the legacy of their forefathers’ hard work should serve as a lesson to strive for continuous improvement.
Melanesian Council Chairman, Reverend Tomu Asioli says it is time to move forward and that dwelling on the past is unproductive, as history will always be history.
Reverend Asioli also highlighted the importance of unity, not only within the Melanesian community but also with other communities, for the sake of harmony.
The Melanesian Council will elect its new executive members today.
