The true cost of the Israel Folau saga has been revealed after Rugby Australia’s financial figures for 2019 were leaked to News Corp on Sunday.
The figures are yet to be given the all clear by auditors but show a $4 million rise in player costs and $3.8 million increase in corporate costs.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Folau settlement which is estimated to be around $4 million is included in player costs of $20.5m.
When Folau first took legal action against RA he was demanding $14 million in compensation before a settlement was reached in December.
