The Nadi Weather Office says the Tropical Depression located to far west of Fiji has a high chance of developing into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours and will not have a direct threat on Fiji based on its projected track.
If this Tropical Depression does develop into a Tropical Cyclone it is expected to pass near Kadavu.
Based on the projected track of the Tropical Depression, people in Viti Levu, Kadavu, Lomaiviti Group, Yasawa and Mamanuca group will be able to feel some strong winds in the next 12 to 24 hours.
These expected strong winds will be indirect effects from the Tropical Depression and it will be able to bring down some temporary shelters and also damage crops.
Close to its centre the depression is expected to have average winds up to 45 kilometres per hour with momentary gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour.
A strong wind warning is in force for the rest of Fiji.
