Damodar City Suva says they have discussed the views of their customers and will trial a 30 minute period of free parking at Damodar City from tomorrow.

Damodar Group CEO Div Damodar says parking for the first 30 minutes is free.

He says thereafter parking up to 4 hours is still $2, on producing a receipt for any purchase made at any outlet at Damodar City.

Without a receipt, $2 per hour is charged.

Cars parked beyond 4 hours will be charged $2 per hour thereafter.

The parking charges are levied from 9am to 9pm daily.

Damodar says those who wish to only drop off passengers at the Centre during peak hours can do so at a safe location on the street.

He says the objective of the car park charges was aimed to reduce the traffic congestion at the car park.

Damodar says the introduced car park charge of $2 for 4 hours has been met with mixed reactions.

He says a good number of customers have appreciated that they could find parking spaces at the Centre during peak periods unlike in the past while some customers were not happy with the delay in exiting the car park.
