People can expect improved ease of traffic congestion along the Suva-Nausori corridor by around June this year as the four lane project between Rewa Bridge and 9-Miles is in its prime stages of completion.
Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says their engineers and contractors have been working around the clock to ensure progress in all aspects of the project is achieved by June.
Moore says that some of the major works that has been executed so far include asphalt paving works, newly constructed footpaths and cycle lanes, installation of street light poles, median fences, and bus shelters as well as improving the utility services of Water Authority, Energy Fiji Limited and Telecom Fiji Limited along the length of the project.
Moore said the inclusion of the cycle lane is a green initiative of the Authority that has been incorporated into the footpath design.
He adds that since the weather is deemed to be more favorable in the coming days, the remaining works will be expedited in order to deliver the much awaited four lane highway.
FRA continues to urged the public to adhere to the speed limits and observe all road signs during these important roadworks.
The two contractors for this project are Higgins Fiji and Dayals Quarries.
