A sevens rugby tournament with a collective prize money of $200,000 is being organised to be held next year in partnership with Yaqara Waters.
The Tournament Director is Ropate Kauvesi who was the Manager of Fiji Men’s National 7s team at the Rio Olympics and he says they were notified of this a few days ago and are in the planning process at the moment.
He says the sevens tournament is being organised by Uprising Sports Centre.
Kauvesi says this would be the biggest prize money in any sporting tournament in Fiji.
He says the tournament will also have a Women’s competition as they want to keep a level playing field.
Kauvesi says they will be revealing more later.
