Tongan national on a run

A 24 year old Tongan national awaiting deportation has escaped from the Suva Corrections Centre.

Makafilia Alamoni Paanepasa Epifanio remanded on August 24 last year for burglary and theft, escaped from custody on Thursday night.

A warrant of detention was issued by the Immigration Department on January 10, 2012 and since then he has been awaiting deportation back to Tonga.

His last known address is 172 Rewa Street.

The Fiji Corrections Service reminds the public that harbouring an escapee is an offence and is liable to a heavy penalty of $5000 fine and or imprisonment of not more than two years.
