Tonga finally managed to secure their first win of the 2023 Rugby World Cup to wrap up their campaign in the tournament with a 45-24 win over Romania earlier this morning.
The win has given them a fourth-place finish in their pool ahead of the Romanians after defeats to Ireland, Scotland and South Africa.
Both teams came into the clash without a point between them but the Pacific Islanders finished strongly to ensure they exited the competition with a win.
Tonga scored 7 converted tries to Romania’s 3 tries and a penalty
Ireland has finished top of their pool with defending champions South Africa claiming second place with Scotland finishing in third.
Meanwhile, in other matches played, Argentina beat Japan 39-27, Tonga beat Romania 45-24, RWC host France beat Italy 60-7, the All Blacks thrashed Uruguay 73-0, Ireland beat Scotland 36-14, Wales defeated Georgia 43-19 and England narrowly beat Samoa 18-17.
