Jonetani Tonawai has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation.
Announcing his appointment was the FCEF's Board President Vinay Narsey, who says, Tonawai is an individual with exceptional calibre and hails from an illustrious background of banking, human resources and capacity building where he has accumulated a wealth of experience in a span of 4 decades.
Narsey says his extensive career includes stints at four prominent local banks, the Minsitry of Finance, Fijian Holdings Limited and the FNPF.
He says Tonawai brings to FCEF a remarkable combination of academic prowess and real world expertise.
Meanwhile, the new CEO Jonetani Tonawai says he has some big shoes to fill as he will be taking over from Kameli Batiweti.
He says his focus will be productivity, growth of the economy, addressing the issues of labour mobility to compensate skills outflow overseas and in doing so, also spearheading towards the ease of doing business.
Tonawai have started in his role as the CEO of FCEF, while Batiweti's contract ends on the 31st of this month.
