Tom Mawi Guitar Award to feature in FPRA music awards

The Tom Mawi Guitar Award will for first time this year feature in the FPRA music awards.

While speaking at the launch of the award at the Fiji Performing Rights Association today Chairman of the FPRA Guitar Award judging panel, Knox Kalounisiga says that this is a huge achievement in recognising local talent and promoting local music.

Kalounisiga encourages musicians from all walks of life, with a passion in music and acoustics to enter and not only to showcase their talent as guitarists but also to grow as musicians.

The judges for the Tom Mawi Guitar award are Knox Kalounisiga, Tomasi Mawi, Apakuki Nalawa, Nemani Vanua, Nesbitt Hazelman.

The 15 categories are Best Composition, Best English Song, Best iTaukei Song, Best Hindi Song, Best Gospel Song, Best Hip-Hop Song, Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Most Popular Music Video, Most Popular Song, International Achievement, Outstanding Service to Fijian Music, Best Recording Engineer, Hall of Fame Award, and for the first this year the Tom Mawi Best Guitarist Award.

Meanwhile, the entries for the Tom Mawi Guitar Award close on the 28th of next month, the FPRA Music Award Nominations will be announced on the 13th of next month, while the FPRA Music Awards will be held on the 13th of May at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
