Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says despite all of the late former Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga’s achievements, what he will be remembered and missed for the most is his ability to remain calm in times of adversity, his sense of humour that never failed to lighten the mood and his genuine approach and care for the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This was highlighted by Rabuka while giving an eulogy during Tikoitoga’s funeral, who says Tikoitoga continuously reminded the staff of the importance of their work, the importance of people and the government they serve.

He says today marks a changing of seasons as they farewell a distinguished diplomat, a soldier, colleague, leader, mentor, father and husband.

He says he was often seen providing guidance and advice to the ministry’s leadership at crucial times regarding the ministry’s strategic operational planning, as well as the restructuring and realignment process in 2019.

Rabuka says he was also actively involved in the development of the Ministry's strategic plan before he embarked on his assignment to Papua New Guinea. He says in April 2023, Tikoitoga accepted a call to return to the Ministry to serve as Ambassador and also in a training capacity in the Ministry, before he was posted to Papua New Guinea, where he spent his last three months in faithful duty to his country.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Territorial Force Brigadier General Apakuki Kurusiga, in his eulogy, says Tikoitoga was a true leader, and his dedication speaks volumes of his character.

He says the RFMF has thanked God for providing the life of a dedicated soldier and officer.

The late Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga is being laid to rest at the Pacific Harbour Cemetery.
