The late High Commissioner to the Papua New Guinea, Brigadier-General (Retd) Mosese Tikoitoga will be laid to rest at the Pacific Harbour Cemetery while a memorial service will be held at the Makosoi Methodist Church in Pacific Harbour.
In an obituary, the government says Tikoitoga had an illustrious career as a military officer, diplomat and civil servant.
They say at the time of his passing, he held the position of High Commissioner of Fiji to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
The Government says earlier he held the distinguished positions of Ambassador at Large and High Commissioner to Ethiopia with Permanent Representation to the African Union and in the latter role, the late High Commissioner was also accredited to nine other countries including Israel, Lebanon and Iraq.
They say the late High Commissioner was a decorated military officer, having served 32 years in the Republic of Fiji Forces and having risen through the officer corps, he held, among others, the position of Commander RFMF, Chief of Staff, Commander Land Force, and Commanding Officer of Fiji's Peacekeeping Contingents in UN missions in Iraq and East Timor.
On secondment from the RFMF the late High Commissioner served as Commissioner Central.
They say he was one who believed in self-development where he attained a Master of Philosophy in Defence Studies in India and Master of Management in Defence Studies in Australia.
The Government says he was a practitioner and an avid doer and additionally, he served in several commercial boards and governing bodies that included the Fiji Rugby Union, Housing Authority, Public Rental Board and Agriculture Marketing Authority.
The late High Commissioner's funeral gathering is being held at his residence at 185 Malolo Place Pacific Harbour, Serua.
He is survived by his wife, Jiu Saukuru Tikoitoga and 3 children.
