Boxing fans can expect some thrillers at the Tuwai Boxing Promotions event this weekend as Fiji Airways Fiji 7s king Jerry Tuwai hosts his first-ever boxing promotion at the Vodafone Arena tomorrow.
With interesting bouts like the Super middleweight title fight between Jese Ravudi and Winston Hill, the night is sure to be filled with a lot of entertainment.
Tuwai says he is excited about this new adventure especially when he is new to organising a boxing event, but he is very much looking forward to his first-ever tournament.
He acknowledged Flour Mills of Fiji (FMF) for their sponsorship and for helping him achieve this milestone.
Tuwai says despite a few complications that happened during the weigh-in today, it still won’t stop the show from going on and he is highly anticipating great boxing matchups tomorrow.
Meanwhile, there were a few altercations during the weigh-in today at Cumming Street as a few boxers were a little bit over the required weight.
In the main bout, Ravudi tipped the scale with 69.5kg while his opponent, Hill weighed in at 68.1kg.
Hill expressed his frustration saying this shows that his opponent has no respect at all for the sport, the organisers and most importantly for him as he does not care about his weight.
The former Olympian says he will teach Ravudi a lesson tomorrow.
In other professional bouts tomorrow, Paulo Ratumaikoro will face Cena Ruata in the light heavyweight contest, Krishneel Mudaliar take on Saimoni Ratu in the featherweight contest, Gabrieli Ravalawa faces Muhammad Ali in the super lightweight contest, Ronald Naidu will fight Ratu Rakuro in the welterweight contest, Jnr Binnu Singh will fight veteran Junior Farzan Ali in the featherweight title contest while Nathan Singh will fight Vanuatu’s Masing Warawara in the featherweight international contest.
There will be 7 amateur fights and 7 pro fights in tomorrow’s event.
Gates will be open at 3pm tomorrow.
