Three charged for the alleged rape of 16 year old student in Sigatoka

Three men have been charged with the rape of a 16 year old student on Saturday and they will appear in the Sigatoka Magistrates Court today.

One has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of abduction, the second has been charged with one count of rape and one count of abduction, while the third man is charged with one count of rape.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirms that the three men are in custody at the Sigatoka Police Station.

Police had earlier said that the two suspects, who were earlier detained, are a 32 year old farmer and a 26 year old mechanic.

Police have not released any further details about the third suspect.

It is alleged that they offered to drop the girl home but instead took her to where the group were drinking alcohol.

They allegedly forced her to drink alcohol, following which the offence was committed.
