Thousands of people living in some areas in Lami, Suva, Nasinu and Nausori will experience disruptions to their water supply from now until further notice.
The Water Authority of Fiji says this is due to the Wainibuku, Tovata, Kalabu, Tamavua, Nagatugatu, Dokanaisuva and Colo-i-Suva reservoirs experiencing low production levels due to high turbidity levels.
Turbidity is the amount of cloudiness in the water.
They say people in the affected areas should store sufficient amount of water and use water wisely during this period. The affected areas are elevated areas along Upper Ragg Avenue, Mika Dreu Place, Pathik Crescent, Amputch Street, Princes Road, Samabula, Mead Road, Nailuva, Delainavesi, Panaromic, Uduya Point, Waiqanake, Osonabukete, Beniveli, Veisari, Qomate, Niranji, Tamavua Koro, Deovji, Lovoni, Nagatugatu residents next to reservoir, Wrong Turn, Sakoca, Upper Khalsa, Tacirua Heights, Dokanaisuva Seventh Day Church to Tacirua Fijian School, Vunuleba Settlement, Naisogo, Colo-i-Suva Crest Chicken, Marshall Road, Taqairua, Vunikawai, Uluibeka, Colanaivau, Valesasa, Naitaqiri Nillgrey.
Other areas includes Makoi, Nepani, Nadawa, Rt Dovi Road, Dibulu, Lokia, Davuilevu, Nakasi, Koronivia, Tovata, Kalabu, Nasinu, Flagstaff, Kalivetau, Veitata, Qaranivalu, Caubati Koro, Daniva, Niubalavu, Raikiwai, Niuvula, Niusawa Lane, Tacirua East, Cunningham, Khalsa Road, Valelevu, Caqiri, Nawanawa, Koka, Kinoya Road, Vasant Lal, Vesivesi and Yasiyasi.
The Water Authority of Fiji says they will be providing carting trucks when requested and in case of an emergency, people can call 1507.
WAF further says they sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and seek people’s understanding and patience until such time supply normalises.
